Horse Grant Announcement

2 Oct 09

Project Hope Horse Welfare Victoria Inc. (PHHWV) announced today that it has established a new grant to help the 2009 Victorian bushfire victims with much needed horse feed.

Thanks to the generous donations of the NSW Online Stallion Service Auctions, the Western Australian Horse Spectacular organisers and the general public, PHHWV has a total of $150,000 available for horse feed grants for people recognised by the Department of Human Services as victims of the 2009 Victorian bushfires.

"PHHWV understands the long term effects of the bushfires on horse owners and realises the difficulties involved in obtaining horse feed in the drier months. We encourage bushfire victims who need help paying for horse feed to complete a grant application." said PHHWV Vice President, Ms Tania Smith.

Assistance is limited to hay, chaff and concentrates to a maximum of five horses per application. The aim of PHHWV is to allocate $150 per horse, funds permitting, however in the event of over demand, PHHWV will implement the most equitable division it deems appropriate.

Applications open Monday 14 September 2009 and close 5pm Friday 9 October 2009. For further information or for a copy of the grant application form and guidelines please visit the PHHWV website at www.phhwv.org.au or telephone 1300 881 606.
